Today I had my informal interview with the coordinators of the PDS program in my district. It was about twenty minutes, and they asked me some questions about my strengths and weaknesses, why I chose the program, what I am looking for in a cooperative teacher, and what grades I would prefer.
The ladies were so sweet! They said when I walked in they could tell I would be an older grade teacher, and that they already had a cooperating teacher in mind for me! I was really nervous going in, but it went pretty well. They also loved that I have my RTI experience :)
I also found out at the interview that I will know my cooperating teacher soon after the end of this semester. We will go to a lunch to meet them and see the school, then help the teacher set up her class, have some institute days together, and then class will begin (for both the students and I)!
I am also excited that I have decided to take a class on the Common Core. It is six classes, and we will learn so much more about the Core, what it means, how to teach it, and hopefully more! It's free, and I get a $1000 stipend for taking it (aka my parents will pay $1000 less on tuition ;) ).
I have the Content Test this Saturday, and I'm a little nervous but mostly okay right now. However, I have started prepping for my Math content test, and I'm a little nervous. I already know I need to relearn real and imaginary numbers and prime factorization (what even is that?!)
But, hopefully all this will pay off and I will be less stressed soon enough, I say laughingly...
