So much has happened since I last wrote!
I officially co-taught 3 lessons for second graders with my partner for my math methods class. Math is a struggle - it is hard to understand what kids actually know and then how to teach them what they should be doing. But, even some experience is better than none!
I was kind of upset when my little buddy from College Mentors decided not to come to the banquet, and I missed my sister's prom to attend. I wish I had known he didn't plan on coming, but it probably was not his fault. Things happen I suppose.
I concluded tutoring my first grader for my literacy class, and I definitely almost cried! We made them cute frames to keep. I feel like I did have some impact, and I know my first grader was sad to see me go, because he gave me a huge hug and kept showing me things so I would not leave. The little girls in the class cried a lot when we left, and I can't imagine how it went over after we left officially. I loved the experience despite some issues and challenges.
I have also said goodbye to most of my coworkers and my boss, and definitely almost cried again. I have learned so much from my work experiences, and I really will miss them. I will say goodbye to the rest of my friends tonight when we see each other :(
For some SUPER EXCITING HAPPY NEWS ~ I GOT MY PLACEMENT!
I have the names of both of my CTs! For the first 8 weeks starting August-mid October I will be with third graders!! My dream placement! From mid October-winter break in December I will be with first graders!! I am so nervous to be with them, but also really looking forward to all the cuteness and experience! Finally, in January after winter break, I will return to my third graders and take over the class! I have emailed my CTs (no response yet :/) But I do get to meet them in less than a week! It all feels so real now - I am a senior in college, spending a year student teaching. I will probably be waking up everyday around 530-6, but their schools let out around 2, so depending on how long I stay after school, I could be home before 4 everyday! I will of course have to come home and do work, but it will be so worth it :)
I am more excited than nervous at this point, but I am sure the breakdowns will come soon too :) I am so excited to blog about my REAL teaching experiences!
